When An Animal Lover Has Kids: Judgement

In my defense, I did not tell ,my daughter to do this. She wanted to.

She came to me one morning, asked for cereal, and asked to eat it right there, where the dogs eat.

Being one to let my kids try new experiences, I said “Okey dokey” and served it up. She ate the whole bowl that way, and then tried to lap up the milk. She’s never done it again since.

This also reminds me of the time I was potty training my son:

He came to me and told me he went potty. I was excited, as any mother trying to potty train their child would be, and walked with him so that he could show me his good work.

He took me straight to the cat litter box and showed me where he had peed there….

“Good job!” I told him, “But lets try going in the potty next time.”

I don’t want to feel judged because I allowed my daughter to eat like a dog. I don’t want to feel judged because I potty trained my son with a litter box.

My kids are happy and they’re loved. As long as they stay happy and loved, It doesn’t matter where they eat or where they pee.

We all love our children to the moon and back. But, there is no denying why our animals hold a special place in our heart, and are sometimes easier to raise than children.
